OMNIS

Metrohm AGAvailable: Worldwide

OMNIS is the universal platform for wet chemical analysis - and beyond. It is modular by design and can be scaled to control potentiometric titrations, volumetric and coulometric Karl Fischer titrations, thermometric titrations, pH and conductivity measurements and – with the OMNIS NIR analyzer – also measurements by near-infrared spectroscopy.

Easier, faster, and more efficient quality

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Energy industry

OMNIS NIR Analyzer: We have been using this product for less than a year and have found it very useful for most of the time. The testing speed is relatively fast and it is less affected by the environment. One suggestion is that the liquid in the cavity cannot be switched back into the bottle like the original model. We hope to continue using the previous product in this regard

Omnis has been great upgrade from the Tiamo

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Pharmaceutical

Omnis systems have been great upgrade from the Tiamo versions. The new database set up makes everything much simpler too, with centralised user management we are able to align equipment and methods to people easier and the ability to share method during tech transfers with ease is also a big plus.

Some inherent design issues in original design of the titrator,

Average Rating 4.0

Application Area:

Acid/Base Titration, pH measurement

The system overall is extremely versatile and programmable. There is an inherent design fault where any liquid spillage (which will almost be guaranteed on occasions) will damage the circuit boards under the towers. We have experienced this a number of times. The green lids on the beakers also split over time. These are expensive enough to not be considered consumables. The other components are proving to be robust in not showing a lot of wear in 5 years.

OMNIS, the best titrators with some flaws

Average Rating 4.0

Application Area:

Potentiometric titrations

OMNIS Titrators for volumetric and KF titration in my opinion are reliable instruments. The equipment is centralized on a main tower made of a dosing unit and a magnetic stirring system. On the top of the tower can be connected many different electrods. The back of the tower has enough space for one liter titrant bottle equipped with a connection cap. Every component has a light indicator that signals anomalties (green, yellow, red). To the main tower can be connected in parallel 3 other towers (for example with different titrants) with dosing unit and/or stirrer. The configuration can be setted up as prefered and also a balance (sartorius) can be connected and managed by the software under CFR21 environment. The software is installed on a local computer and it can manage a local or remote database. An automatic backup can now be scheduled thanks to the new release of the software Omnis 4.4.1. Spare parts (tubing, valves, burettes, chips, and so forth) are very expensive. Mantainance is easy and necessary only for aggressive reagents, for example sodium hydroxide. The best characteristic of OMNIS instruments is the possibility to manage many titrations simultaneously. Moreover, an automatic sampler can be installed. One big flaw is the lack of ability to customize reports. Further more, the setting up of parameters (methods, procedures, variabile, ...) can be cumbersome. Automatic calculations are also possible. In conclusion, OMNIS titrators are very reliable and user friendly instruments, even if the setting up can be frustrating. The lack in the report management is a shame. Anyway, for what concern titrations, Merohm is always a guarantee.

Lights and shadows.

Application Area:

Titrations by potentiometry

We use OMNIS to perform titrations by potentiometry and the change from previous Metrohm titration equipment with TIAMO software is very different. On the one hand there is the simultaneity of analysis that the OMNIS system with 4 titrations towers allows us as a positive point to highlight, and on the other hand there is the negative point which is the complexity when adding and/or changing hardware elements and its complex programming of analysis methods.

Happy with the product and service

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

KF Titrando 851

I have had this kit for the last three years in our lab and it has been very handy and user-friendly. We upgraded it to having an oven processor with an autosampler for solid samples and we find it very easy to use. The software is also very user-friendly. I find after-sales service and respond to requests very quick. All in all it's good value for money.

OMNIS can be fully automated with the OMNIS Sample Robot. The capacity of this modular x-y-z platform can be expanded from size S to M to L and can be used to accommodate and determine a maximum of 500 liquid samples completely unattended.

OMNIS puts the focus on the sample. This means that results produced by different technologies on the platform (e.g., Karl Fischer titration and near-infrared spectroscopy) do not have to be aggregated manually but are shown for each sample at a single glance.

OMNIS is available for stand-alone as well as client/server installations and connects up to 500 clients in a network. It complies with highest data and cyber security standards and meets the requirements for software in the regulated environment (FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EudraLex Volume 2, Annex 11).
