The Cytek® Aurora offers unprecedented assay flexibility and panel complexity thanks to our unique, full-spectrum optical design. With up to 5 lasers and 64 fluorescent detectors, the Cytek® Aurora can capture the entire emission spectrum from each fluorochrome. This makes it possible to now run 40 colors in one tube, a first for 40 fluorescence-based flow cytometry.

We might consider getting a second unit!
Rating: 4.7

  • Application Area:Multicolor phenotyoping

"Excellent Engineering service and Tech Support. My team loves the ease of use and the ease of panel design for large panels and the ease of running 96 well plate samples. Would be nice to have it as a 21CFR part 11 compliant instrument and incorporated software that would let you do HD data analysis."

Great reproducible data and user friendly
Rating: 4.3

  • Application Area:Analysis of Immune cell profile and phenotypes

"User-friendly and intuitive software. We are able to resolve most cell populations of interest, especially with the autofluorescence correction. Able to run up to 30 or more colors panel without too much headache in post-acquisition compensation/ unmixing correction and analysis. Generally, we need to use a lower concentration of antibodies as the machine is pretty sensitive, hence we save on antibodies cost as well. The passing of tubes can be somewhat slow due to the sitting flush in between samples (inevitable)."

Amazing beginner-friendly flow cytometer!
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Flow cytometry

"The Cytek Aurora flow cytometer has been an amazing tool for my osteoimmunology research. This instrument was my introduction to flow cytometry completely, and I have had a pleasant experience learning to use it. With the help of my mentor and our core staff, I have run into few issues. Further, the SpectroFlo software has a great user interface that is beginner-friendly and useful for optimizing a large number of antibodies in a customized panel. I look forward to learning more and developing rigorous protocols to get the most out of my studies."

Easy to use system that allows for a flexible approach.
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Flow Cytometry in Neurology

"Extremely easy to use system that allowed a more streamline approach to look at different protein subsets of particular cells within the brain. This system allowed us to verify additional data and added a unique look at existing data."

Game changer.
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:High parameter flow cytometry methods

"The Cytek Aurora is a game changer. It is of excellent value, has a small footprint, and can achieve much higher resolution, high-parameter data than conventional cytometers. Cytek has been a pleasure to work with in terms of both sales and technical support, and the Aurora is an extremely powerful and easy to use cytometer."

Fantastic result that some people have struggled to get from classical flow cytometers.
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:High parameter analysis of immune cells

"We did a demo of the unit just before the pandemic hit research labs. The amazing resolution, auto fluorochrome reduction and the ease of use was spectacularly useful in visualization of results when analysis was done for immuno-conjugates, rare cell prime flow detection, and dim resolving populations, and of course standard populations with medium antigen density. The data looked particularly good for coexpressed molecules even on not so bright fluorochromes. The higher log scale makes it look really nice. The software is very friendly and instrument easy to operate. In our facility with 10 existing instruments this instrument seems like an easy fit with huge gains! We are finalizing our quotes and looking forward to having a couple of these genius machines to work with."

Great instrument for a core facility!
Rating: 4.7

  • Application Area:Immunophenotyping, evaluation of fluorescent protein expression

"The Cytek Aurora is a really great research tool to have oriented within a core facility. The instrument/software is very user-friendly and has been robust in our hands in terms of operation and maintenance. Users already familiar with larger parameter panel design will likely adapt quickly to using the instrument and the spectral unmixing aspect of the data analysis. We have found that users that are new to flow cytometry or vaguely familiar with using a flow cytometer will require more training and guidance that is typically required for a digital cytometer, but this is not excessive. Cytek is continually rolling out new tools and guidances that aid in panel design and spectral unmixing, but you may have to actively seek out these updates and best practices. Overall the instrument is great value for the cost and having the ability to build panels up to 40 colors (currently) is an invaluable tool for users setting up immunophenotyping experiments."

Exceptional population resolution for markers that were found to be dim on another cytometer.
Rating: 4.3

  • Application Area:Immune profiling of vaccine induced responses

"Enabled me to obtain high resolution data using reagents that I’d previously thought to be obsolete. Antibodies previously thought to be dimly expressed look fantastic. Nice and simple to use and has saved money in my grant."

Easy and great system to analyze cells!
Rating: 5.0

  • Application Area:Flow cytometry

"Extremely easy system and great reproducibility. Makes panel design and cell analysis a breeze. No more spending hours adjusting parameters to have the best fit."

Review date: 24 Jan 2020 | Cytek® Aurora
  • 40 colors in one tube, all with outstanding resolution. Well suited for high-parameter applications such as deep immunophenotyping and immuno-oncology.
  • Capable of running highly overlapping dyes together on co-expressed markers in the same panel (e.g. APC and Alexa 647).
  • Easier experimental design and more flexible panels with less spillover and spread considerations.
  • Extract autofluorescence from samples, improving resolution in normally problematic sample types  (e.g. tumors, lung tissue homogenate).
  • Upgradable from 3-lasers (violet, blue, red) and 38 fluorescence detectors to 5 lasers (UV, violet, blue, yellow-green, red) and 64 fluorescence detectors.
  • Superior sensitivity and better resolution of rare and dim populations with Avalanche Photodiode (APD) detectors.
  • Ability to standardize setup and data across instruments and across sites.
  • Optional plate loader to automate sample acquisition using 96-well plates.
